Takapuna to Devonport – From downtown, it’s just a 12-minute ferry to the picturesque seaside town of Devonport. Take the mostly-paved cycle track through paths, boardwalks and bridges to Takapuna where there are great cafés, shopping and beaches to explore at both ends.
Auckland Waterfront – For a short, easy cycle, explore the central city waterfront by bike, then travel past the Viaduct Harbour and Wynyard Quarter precincts and along the newly developed boardwalk that runs along the edge of Westhaven Marina. A gentle ride for cyclists, the whole route is off-road and beside the water of the Waitemata harbour with stunning views to Rangitoto.
From easy breezy coastal walks to half-day bush hikes, Auckland’s blessed with many different walking paths that suit amblers of all abilities. Take your camera to capture some spectacular city skyline views.

Tamaki Drive walk – Walking along Tamaki Drive is one of the best ways to appreciate the beauty of Auckland’s amazing harbour setting. This walk curves along the waterfront from downtown Auckland, taking in a number of gorgeous eastern beaches, finishing at St Heliers.
Coast to Coast Walkway – There are few places in the world where you can walk from one ocean to another in just four or five hours. Walk through city and suburban streets, parks and volcanic cones for great 360-degree views, and discover some of our Māori and colonial history.
